Today is June 19, 2007 and we talked about what we consider quality and used a car as a model. We can compare quality in software design also, but quality is very hard to design. According to a dictionary “Quality” means a degree of excellence. So the discussion started out what do want when buying a new car? I see the warranty, price and milage as important. I view consumer reports as a good buying guide. However, people see things differently when buying a new car.
A software design for a pacemaker has to be very higher quality than anything. So quality has different values. If a person has their life on the line with a product or artifact it has to have higher value than other quality products. Quality to me from a military background from the U.S. Marines has a high attention to detail. Some people don’t pay attention to details. I believe details are very important and I hope that this is in better detail as a discussion than my previous posts.
